Mother Nature and the Cumberland

Derby Weekend 2010, Mother Nature teams up with the Cumberland River and they show their ass. Whew! For the first time I know of and the first time Mr Ray T knows of over 60 years of serious boating , they closed the Cumberland River to recreational traffic for 5 days. Well the river reopened today, just in time for a private college graduation party that we booked 4 weeks ago. It was a fun cruise.
I have been talking to Bledsoe Creek State Park about doing tours from there on Sat. mornings with their Naturalist. Cool huh, a different area of the lake and the naturalist might teach me something. Well that is on hold, refer to above about Mother Nature, their docks were damaged. I'll get something going though. Come cuise with me. Happy Sails to you! Oh and Smile! Cpt. Jesse

Hey Folks Spring is here and the bats are back. My last cruise of the day is a sunset cruise and after the sunset we watch the bats come out of the bat cave. Well they have been hibernating and they return in April. They are back now. Unfortunately their food source is the mosquitoes, who are also back. Go figure. We also saw three beavers. Good old fat ones.

March 2010

Had a nice Cruise Sat the 20th finally having some decent weather. Only two people, but we spotted an Eagle. I just learned this, but a young Bald Eagle (age 3 or 4) does not have the white head. That is a mature Adult Eagle. I didn't have my camera, but this is a pic off the net of what we saw. I hope it is nesting in this area, because if so they come back year after year.

Cruising and Loving it

Sorry I haven't updated, but I am starting today. The tours are picking up. I finally got an article in the Tennessean. The nature tour is providing some neat sights. Bats swarming, beavers working the creek, and a raccoon every once in a while.
Caught a blue heron on a bouy at night. I plan on posting pictures and tour descriptions here from now on. Hard to believe a year has passed.

Coming Soon

We've been doing our shakedown cruises, purchasing signs, cards, handouts, getting inspected/ neglected, and hopefully not rejected.
Coast Guard Inspection went fine and we are about to have all our ducks in a row.
Pun Intended. It'll make sense when you visit Cherokee Steak House.
Visit often. Captain Jesse
